Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Co., celebrating its 25th anniversary of cheesemaking this year, is proud to announce two prestigious wins at the 2025 United States Championship Cheese Contest. The company’s Fennel Blue secured the Silver Medal (2nd Place) and TomaRashi earned the Bronze Medal (3rd Place), both in the same Semi-Soft Cheese, Flavored category.
The United States Championship Cheese Contest, the nation’s premier technical cheese, butter, and yogurt competition, marked its 22nd edition this year. Hosted biennially since 1981 by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association, the contest featured entries from 31 U.S. states across 117 classes, making it the largest technical dairy product evaluation in the country. Entries in the U.S. Championship Cheese Contest are judged by a team of skilled technical experts from across the country.
“As always, we’re very grateful to win two medals at the US Championship Cheese Contest”, said Kuba Hemmerling, VP of Operations. “We make cheese for consumers that know and appreciate great quality –when credentialed judges also appreciate our work, it feels especially rewarding.”
Point Reyes Cheese’s product line includes Original Blue, Bay Blue, Fennel Blue, Toma, TomaRashi, TomaTruffle, TomaProvence, Gouda, Truffle Brie, and Quinta. The multi-award-winning California-made cheese collection is widely distributed across the U.S. through major retailers, specialty cheese shops, and gourmet grocery stores. About Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company
In 1959 Bob and Dean Giacomini established their sustainable dairy farm along Highway 1, just north of Point Reyes Station. In 2000, together with their daughters, the family began making cheese on the farm with milk from their own herd of Holsteins. In 2010, the family opened The Fork, a culinary and educational center, offering farm-to-table educational experiences for both consumers and the trade. Three of the Giacomini sisters, Diana, Lynn and Jill now own and run the WBENC-certified, 100% women-owned company that is recognized internationally as an award-winning producer of best-in-class, hand-crafted, artisan cheese. With production locations on the farm and in nearby Petaluma, the Point Reyes Farmstead product line contains Original Blue, Bay Blue, Fennel Blue, Toma, TomaProvence, TomaTruffle, TomaRashi, Gouda, Quinta and Truffle Brie. The product line is available nationally at independent cheese shops and specialty grocers, at The Fork, local-area farmers’ markets and online at www.pointreyescheese.com.
