Myakka City, FL – Squeaky Cheese CO, Florida’s first and only producer of authentic Quebec-style squeaky cheese, proudly announces its membership with the Specialty Food Association. Founded by Eric Primeau, Squeaky Cheese CO is on a mission to bring the essential ingredient of real poutine to the region and beyond.
Squeaky cheese originates in Quebec and is the heart of Canada’s national dish, poutine. While various cheese curds exist in the U.S., most are cheddar-based, or some even cut mozzarella into cubes. However, neither delivers the signature squeak, texture, and fresh dairy flavor that define true poutine cheese. “Just like mozzarella belongs on pizza and not feta, poutine requires authentic squeaky cheese. Any Quebecer will tell you,” says Primeau.
Recognizing the absence of real squeaky cheese in Florida, Primeau took matters into his own hands, mastering the cheesemaking craft to produce an authentic product that stays true to its Quebec roots. Beyond poutine, squeaky cheese is also the perfect choice for beer-battered fried cheese curds, offering a uniquely satisfying crunch and melt-in-your-mouth experience.
By joining the Specialty Food Association, Squeaky Cheese CO is further cementing its dedication to quality, authenticity, and educating the U.S. market on the importance of real squeaky cheese. “We’re proud to be part of an organization that champions specialty food makers. This is just the beginning of our mission to bring squeaky cheese to those who have never experienced it,” Primeau adds.
